For Mickey Ward (Mark Wahlberg), Dicky Eklund (Christian Bale) is not just about the brothers. Dick was like a hero. Dick did have time to make fragrant names of Massachusetts Lowell collapsed due to ever beat Sugar Ray Leonard. But times have changed. Dicky Dicky that now is not that old anymore.
Dick's career in the boxing ringhad ended . Boxer is even more often to spend time with cocaine instead of boxing. Now Dick can only hope for his career back shine while Micky train had just begun. This family business. Mickey became a boxer while coach Dick and Alice Ward (Melissa Leo), the mother, is the manager Micky.
Unfortunately, this family business only bring destruction for Micky. Micky had lost the spirit until he met Charlene Fleming (Amy Adams) who gave Mickey to re-create the spirit of boxing. Following Charlene means Micky must betray his family, but nevertheless the decision must be made and could be this is the way for Mickey to restore the dignity that destroyed his family because of Dick.
